DHAMAD, Jazan: Jazan Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Nasser inaugurated a number of welfare and development projects worth SR848 million in Dhamad.
The projects include construction of Prince Muhammad bin Nasser Road, in addition to a number of educational health, electricity, water and road projects.
Prince Muhammad also laid the foundation for Al-Bir Society's charitable endowment building as well as for a number of social, youth and training projects.
The new projects inaugurated by the governor in Dhamad include Shageri-Huma Road, Mashouf Mahsen Road, a vegetable market, an electricity transformer station and other power projects.
An official statement issued by the governorate also said that Prince Muhammad opened a general hospital in Dhamad, which was established by the health affairs department at a cost of SR34 million.
After opening the 50-bed hospital, the governor was briefed on its various facilities. He also opened a number of other health projects in Dhamad and Shageri and inspected health services being offered by the hospital to citizens.
Prince Muhammad inspected various projects being implemented by the public and private sectors and progress of work there. He was accompanied by Deputy Gov. Abdullah Al-Suwaid and other officials.
Meanwhile, the governor chaired a meeting of the Jazan Provincial Council and discussed the development requirements of Dhamad, the Saudi Press Agency said.
Ahmed Zaala, secretary-general of the council, said it has become customary for the prince to hold the council meetings in one of the region's major cities to discuss the requirements of its people and the services they need.
He stressed the supplementary role of municipal councils as they assist the provincial council in identifying development requirements of various regions. He said the meeting discussed progress of work of a number of welfare and infrastructure projects in the city.
