SAP AG has announced that the industry-leading SAP Afaria mobile device management solution will immediately support iOS 6 key new features and devices. As enterprises and end users quickly implement the wildly popular mobile operating system in anticipation of iPhone 5 market availability, SAP will meet customer demand by offering best-in-industry mobile device management and security on iOS 6.

Many of the largest enterprise customers globally depend on SAP Afaria for securely managing devices, apps and policies for all major mobile operating systems. “Tablets and smartphones enable workers to consume business information the way they consume e-mail — easily and always up-to-date,” said Oliver Bussmann, chief information officer, SAP AG.

“At SAP, we currently have more than 30,000 iOS devices deployed, managed and secured through SAP Afaria and that number will increase with iPhone 5. Sales workers using these devices are able to securely access crucial account, product and customer information, which dramatically improves efficiency and productivity.”

With more and more enterprises embracing bring your own device (BYOD) policies, SAP Afaria removes the complexity of managing and securing all critical enterprise data and mobile apps on any device. The latest SAP Afaria upgrade will allow enterprises to fully provision, manage and secure all devices that upgrade to iOS 6. Key new iOS 6 features will include an “Authorized Mode,” allowing enterprises to effectively pre-load apps via mobile device management (MDM).

Once loaded on the iOS device, enterprise IT staff will be able to remotely instruct the device to enable/disable a particular app based upon user policy compliance or permissions. Additionally, SAP Afaria will support iOS 6 “Guided Access” via Authorized Mode. This innovation will help retail, field service and education users lock and load an iOS app by triple clicking the iOS device home button.
