The event module depicts the life circle of all your events - Teaser on the homepage, overview of a list, search functions via a filter, a detail page with different display options relating to your event – together with a review that offers options for an image gallery.

The Event Plug-in on the page

The event module is composed of several elements. In the frontend, events are displayed on different pages with the aid of the "AHK Event" plug-in:

  • As an element with list and calendar on the homepage.
  • As a list with Calendar and Filter option as well as an overview of all events either as a normal list or as a Teaser view with greyed out boxes
  • As a detail page with information about each individual event with a 3-column overview box in the upper area
  • As an archive page with a list of past events

You receive the system with the complete configurations and settings. A further setting in the plug-in is therefore not necessary. However, we explain in the following how the plug-in is put together and what adjustments you can make:


Frequently asked questions

How do I create a category?

Categories are usually created right at the beginning of the setup of the event module. While routinely looking after your events you will go back again and again to your same categories.

Which Event categories are sensible?

Categories serve to orientate the user and help him/her to filter the event offer relevant to him/her.

You orientate yourself in the event categories to your actual offer. Don’t be too detailed, that makes the search more difficult for the user. Possible categories could be:

  • Workshop (alternatively training, instruction, seminar)
  • Business Lunch (alternatively Breakfast Meeting)
  • Social Network
  • Only for members (alternatively Member Event, Meeting of members)
  • Working party
  • Delegation trip
  • Conference
  • Professional event
  • Symposium
  • Podium discussion

When selecting events remember NOT to display the event main categories in the plug-in (don’t put a tick).

I have created a new category that cannot, however, be seen in the frontend. Why is that?

Remember to select newly created categories also at the same time in the plug-in on the relevant page (set tick).

Google Maps is only shown with a blue background on the detail page. Why is that?

Please check in Pool Contents >> Events whether the correct address of the location was entered under event location. You can ascertain that everything is correct by the lines of latitude and longitude in the 2nd tab under "Address details" being displayed with coordinates.

My event location is different in the national language from the name. Nonetheless, how can I show the correct version?

In this case, mirror your data set of the event location from the standard language into the national language. The module then automatically allocates the correct languages.

I would very much like several images in my detailed text, is that possible?

No, before the event it isn’t possible to display more than one image in the detailed text. After the event, however, you can upload as many images as you like as an image gallery of an event review.

Top images are also not shown in the detailed view, unless you upload the images again under Event >> General >> Images.

 

If I upload a programme as a PDF my file name appears. Can I change that?

Yes. Give your uploaded file a clear and user-friendly title in the backend. The actual file name will not be overwritten in the process.

I would like to link my log-on to my external form. Is that possible?

Yes. In this case don’t put a tick in "Activate log-on" and then in the free text field link a relevant reference with the external link.

I would like to connect my event to the powermail registration form. This is not shown, however.

Please check the following:

  • Have you really linked a page and not the form in the pool contents?
  • Does this page have the same language as the one that you’ve connected your event to?
  • Is the page activated?

Can I select several contacts in the event module?

This is not possible in the detailed view.

I have allocated my event to a category. The category does not appear, however, in the event list.

Please check whether you have also ticked the relevant category in the plug-in on the event page with the list.
