Yoast

Work with Yost

The SEO plugin brings some new editing features for the work in the backend, which serve the search engine optimisation of the pages. You can find a description of the new editorial editing options here.

Yoast SEO - Page preview in the backend

At the beginning of each page in the backend, you will now find a Google snippet preview (preview of the page display on Google) for desktop and mobile.

The smiles with the corresponding traffic light colours rate the readability and the current SEO rating of the page. Click on the indicator to get more information about the rating.

Customise page titles and descriptions

Google sets a maximum number of characters for both the page title and the page description. The bar below the entry shows how the length of the title and description is rated with the help of the traffic light colours.

Keywords play a major role when writing the title and description and should be taken into account.

The preview of the entered data at Google can be found in the "Google snippet preview" above.

Editing the Readability

In the page properties you will find an analysis of the readability (the online readability of the page content), which is also provided with traffic light colours.

Not all tips can always be implemented immediately. However, they can support you in the further editing of the page.

Focus keyphrase

The focus keyword (main keyword) is derived from the content of your page and can be defined by you in the corresponding field in the backend. This keyword can also be used for other sub-pages and is the basis of the SEO analysis.

For a comprehensive evaluation by Google, it is advisable to use the keyword and syonyms several times on the page.

Note: It is important that the keyword is used appropriately. Google evaluates meaningless strings of keywords negatively.

Open Graph

The Open Graph function already existed before the introduction of the plugin.

Up to now: If you store an image in the page properties, the first image is also automatically stored as a Twitter or Facebook preview image.

New: Now you can overwrite the default values (title, description and first image) and set them individually. It is now possible for the images to vary for the two social channels.
