File list

Your files and images are deposited in the file list. We show you the common formats and give tips for a sensible structure.

You can find a list with all files for your website in the module menu at [FILE] under [File list]. There are various folders, in which all uploaded files for your website, such as text documents, images, Excel tables, PDFs etc. are listed.

Layout of the file list

When organising your file list use the structure in the front end (FE) as a basis. As, above all, from experience you tend to exchange and edit symbol images rarely, a more detailed sub-division only makes sense, when you have to repeatedly update and exchange PDFs. What is important in the new structure is that both you and also trainees and other employees of your AHK find their way around in it quickly.

A sensible layout could be:

  • Homepage
  • Symbol images Level II
  • Symbol images Level III
  • Forms
  • Videos
  • Audio (if you use this format)
  • Publications
  • Events
  • News
  • Contacts

Note:
The user_upload file that you can find at the end of each file list collects all images and files that you upload directly from the desktop. Also, after the upload you can add all the important information such as title and image credits to the images uploaded in this way, or you can possibly move the images from there to another place.

Adding files

You can add more files to this list by clicking at the top on the symbol [Upload files] and then upload files from your hard disk to the selection field shown. This is especially useful if you would like to maintain an overview when uploading.

Uploading file

Would you like to refer to a file from your data list in your text?

  • In the first step, select the text that you want to link to the file.
  • Now click on the chain symbol above the RTE field.
  • A new window opens, in which you click on File
    • For the destination window select "New window".
    • For Title, enter the text that will be displayed to the user in the mouse-over.
  • Now the system shows you the file list. Here you select the folder where the file is located.
  • To link the file now click on the title of the file

Editing files

When you have put the tick at [Expanded view], you will see different symbols for editing files. For example, you can rename files and give them a description suitable for search engines. You can delete files that you no longer need from the file list.

Please make sure that each file has its own data set, by, amongst other things, showing an image caption and an [Alternative Text]. These entries are used automatically each time that an image is integrated, unless you overwrite or delete them.

Subsequent alterations to these data also affect all images that use these standard data. In addition, in the [Metadata] you can enter the image credit for an image.

Using files

The graphics contained in the file list are available to you, if you would like to insert your images into the page contents. Even if you set links in the Rich Text Editor (RTE), you have the option to put these to files from the file list.
